Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a popular public speaking event organizer. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips featuring commentary and analysis of gender representations in contemporary culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as blogger. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource for education that examines women's role in the narratives of pop culture It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. Additionally, she serves as the executive director. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they are portrayed in popular culture. Additionally she aims to create the awareness of harassment on social media targeted towards women as well as the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian is also a graduate of York University master's in social philosophy, political and philosophical thinking. Apart from being a popular public speaker, she has given presentations at TEDxWomen The XOXO Conference as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while she was still at University. She had a plan to start an internet-based series on the gender roles in games and was then the victim of a harassment campaign online. However, the attacks did not discourage her. The experience only strengthened her as a journalist who is feminist. Her notable contributions to the field of feminist were recognized by a variety of awards. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a journalist. She is also the founder and director of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational group that focuses on pop-culture gender representations.
