She is best known for her performances in the movies Blue Denim (1959), The Poseidon Adventure (1872) and The Poseidon Adventure (1972). Lynley was raised in Manhattan by her Irish mother and a New England father. Before becoming an actress, she started her modeling career as a child model. Her nomination for the Theatre World Award for "one of the most promising stars 1956-2005" for her part in The Potting Shed. Lynley began her film career in the year 1958 with her debut in the Disney film The Light in the Forest. It was followed by Holiday for Lovers (1959) as well as Blue Denim (1959). In her movie The Light in the Forest Lynley was nominated in 1959 to the Golden Globe Award. One year later, she was nominated again for the Golden Globe Award as Most Promising Female Newcomer.
